Favorite Fridays

Jackie Weppner was born to be a writer and in fashion, which is why her blog, Merci New York, is an esteemed member of our Favorite Friday's.

Merci New York is well known in the industry.  Last summer she won Aisle Dash's award for BEST WEDDING BLOG, last fall, the New York Times' feature on wedding bloggers named Jacqueline as a selected guest for Martha Stewart Weddings' private runway fashion shoot, and Jackie was one of a few select bloggers invited to attend the Martha Stewart Bloggers Night Out Event last August.

See photo below from the event:

We asked Jackie a few questions about jewelry, her answers below:

What’s your jewelry philosophy?
I am a big believer in bold, statement pieces that showcase your personal style. I tend to gravitate toward wearing one big vintage (or vintage-inspired) piece that catches the eye in a fun and unique way. I adore glam cocktail rings, chandelier earrings and any piece that has a chic, polished and decidedly-vintage look.

What piece of jewelry are you most thankful for?I remain eternally thankful for my wedding band. It's beyond special to look down at my left hand each day and know that I have the most wonderful marriage with the love of my life.

Silver or gold?
Silver for every day, gold to glam it up on special occasions

Pearls or gems?
How about pearls paired with gems? Is that allowed? ;-)
Chandeliers or hoops?Chandeliers. Oh so glam and chic!!

Thanks, Jackie!!!

Meet Our Interns!!

We have the best interns.  Ever.  Granted, this must be like when your sister has a baby.  You think it's the cutest baby to ever be born on the planet.  Every time it burps it's like seeing a rainbow.  But still, I am standing by my original statement that we have the best interns.  So, (drumroll) without further ado- here they are:

Nicole Greten - FIT

Inspiration: I am inspired by NYC.  What people are wearing, shopping, art and architecture.
Aspiration: To work in an exciting, challenging, and fashion oriented environment, like Monet!
Fun Fact: I am originally a Jersey girl!!

Erin Cornell - Kendall College of Art and Design

Inspiration: Everything.  I'm inspired by people, nature, music, materials, shapes, convictions and beliefs.  When you're an artist, getting inspired is just a way of life.
Aspiration: To design my own mass market brand.  Plus, I would love to have a home studio.
Fun fact: I have a custom design jewelry business Erin Cornell Designs.
Favorite blog: My sisters blog about my nephew.

Melissa Manks- FIT

Inspiration: Nature
Aspiration: To have my own jewelry company.
Fun fact: I used to be an elementary school teacher.

Elizabeth Herrera - Hudson County Community College

Aspiration: to work in the merchandising field
Fun Fact: I have always been interested in make-up.  I used to do my friends and families make-up for special events.
Favorite blogs: Style Rookie, Jewel Snob

Siobhan Williams - Philadelphia University

Inspiration: My grandmother.  Her love of fashion and constant drive push me to accomplish my dreams everyday.
Fun Fact: I will be the first person in my family to graduate from college and get an MBA.
Favorite Blog: It's a bit of a guilty pleasure, but I love Perez Hilton.
Crazy NYC Moment: Seeing Tom Cruise at the Broadway show, Wicked.  He was surprisingly short, but really nice to all of his fans.

Denise Chin- Baruch College

Inspiration: NYC and everything that comes with it.  It's the city that never sleeps and inspires me to do the best I can.
Fun Fact: Back in 5th grade I modeled in a fashion show. But, I can't tell you how I got through it, I was a nervous wreck!
Favorite Blogs: I read the Juicy Couturist and while researching for Monet's Bridal line, I started reading bridal blogs like Merci New York and Every Last Detail.
Crazy NYC Moment:  Aug 2003 Blackout - no doubt.  I live on the 29th floor so going home was like doing lunges non stop.  Think battery radios, canned food and not to mention, no indoor plumbing!!!

See, aren't they all the best!?  See below for some more fun "around the office" pictures!  Thank for everything ladies!!  I had so much fun working with you.
